Adapted from the medieval morality play Everyman, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins Everybody is a symbolic journey through life in which the title character, Everybody, searches for a companion; Somebody; who will accompany them to their appointment with Death. Representing the randomness of death, each of Somebodies is assigned by chance at each performance; resulting in many different combinations. Each of these actors must memorize the entire script and be prepared to play any role. This fresh take on a timeless tale playfully satirizes contemporary culture while reminding us that life is a gift.
